History

In 2004 ICON MEN was founded upon the idea to lift up-and-coming bodybuilders and fitness models from the pages of fitness magazines around the world and bring them into consumer's homes through an engaging series of workout DVDs and products. Almost instantly the ICON MEN brand and website enjoyed huge success, thanks in part to two primetime segments on NBC's television series Extra. Over the next several years some of the nation's hottest, most sought after male fitness models helped ICON MEN to reach their goal, and the ICON MEN fitness DVD series was born to amazing success in the worldwide retail marketplace.
In January of 2006, ICON MEN entered an exclusive partnership with Greenwood/Cooper, a division of Village Lighthouse, Inc., for the distribution of the ICON MEN DVD series. The first new DVD title released under the new partnership introduced the world to Greg Plitt, who would later become the face for a nationwide Brawny marketing campaign, and enjoy success in the fitness and entertainment industries.
In 2007, ICON MEN expanded their business, and alongside the successful DVD series and Internet website, began releasing stunning full-color 16-month wall calendars through a strategic partnership with Village Lighthouse's 10% division. ICON MEN calendars continue to achieve sold-out status every year both in stores and through Internet websites large and small including both Barnes & Noble and Borders.
ICON MEN announced in October of 2008 an acquisition by 360 West Media Distribution, L.L.C. further solidifying the future of the brand. In 2009, the Village Lighthouse sister company plans to expand the ICON MEN brand both with the recruitment of new male and female models and the production of additional workout titles for distribution via DVD, broadcast, and Internet video on demand (VOD). Former marketplace offerings including the successful ICON MEN wall calendar series will also continue to be published, and the ICON MEN website will be reinvigorated with new content and services. ICON MEN is also looking to license its photography and brand for use on supplements, clothing, and fitness apparel. A photobook of male physique photography and fitness advice is also planned for publication by Village Lighthouse's Alluvial brand.
